CREDITS

カラスの女房 (Karasu no Nyoubou)

Lyrics: Toyohisa Araki | Music: Takao Horiuchi | Arrangement: Eiji Kawamura

This is Nakazawa’s debut single as an enka singer. Released on several compilation albums, and in re-arranged versions released as singles by Takao Horiuchi (the composer of the song).

お台場ムーンライトセレナーデ (Odaiba Moonlight Serenade)

Lyrics: Toyohisa Araki | Music: Takao Horiuchi | Arrangement: Eiji Kawamura

This track is a duet between Nakazawa and her fellow label enka singer Gen Takayama, and is the A-side from her 2nd single. Odaiba is an artificial island in the Tokyo bay.

Nakazawa said in an interview:

«[…] while watching the music video of “Odaiba Moonlight Serenade”, there is a scene which I am supposed to expose my shoulder by sliding down a little bit of my yukata dress. Was it yukata or kimono? I can’t remember. Anyway, I was so awkward! During the filming of the music video, I was told to smoothly and gently remove the kimono.[…] It was impossible for me to feel relaxed, I mean, I am not an actress or anything. So I ended up doing it in a very clumsy way, and when I look back, I think this music video is very fun and interesting to watch. Now, this was released on December 2nd, 1998 […], the album “Yuko Nakazawa, volume.1” was released 10 days after that.»

純情行進曲 (Junjou Koushinkyoku)

Lyrics: Toyohisa Araki | Music: Takao Horiuchi | Arrangement: Motoki Funayama

This song is the A-side to Nakazawa’s 3rd single; the last enka single she released. She went on an extensive campaign promoting this song, earning her #1 on the Enka charts.

上海の風 (Shanghai no Kaze)

Lyrics & Music: Tsunku | Arrangement: Yuichi Takahashi

This song is the A-Side to Nakazawa’s 4th single. Tsunku, her producer and the songwriter, wrote on his homepage about this release:

«Once again, I was in charge of the overall production of the single for Yuko Nakazawa. As I was talking with my staff, we agreed not to limit her potential as an enka artist but to expand her horizon as a Yuko Nakazawa, just the way she was. It may fit into the category of “adult-contemporary” in J-pop. But I produced this song in hope for creating the best pop song.«

Nakazawa said in a video-interview, eight years after the release:

«[Showing the cover of the cd single] Can’t you see I am smiling? I’m smiling right? Because it’s not enka. I was so happy to be honest. (lol) I don’t know how this came about, but back then, I was still uncomfortable seeing myself as an enka singer, so I was very surprised when I received this song. The song had a nice Chinese-flavor to it.»

悔し涙 ぽろり (Kuyashi Namida Porori)

This track is also the A-side to Nakazawa’s 5th single, her best-selling single and her last single as a member of Morning Musume. It is also the last single where her first name is written in hiragana; ゆうこ (her future releases has her name in kanji; 裕子).
