"Folk Songs 4" is a cover album of famous Japanese folk songs, featuring Yuko Nakazawa, Mari Yaguchi, Kei Yasuda and Melon Kinenbi on vocals. 

The album reached # 25 on the Oricon charts, charting for four weeks.

This song is sung by Mari Yaguchi. The original belongs to Machi Takagi.

This track was later released on a H!P no Zenkyoku Kara Atsumechaimashita! Vol. 2 issued by Tower Records.

 

異邦人 (Ihoujin)

This song is sung by Yuko Nakazawa and Kei Yasuda. The original, released in 1979, belongs to Sayuri Kume. Kume’s single went on to sell a total of 1,444,820 copies, her best selling single and the 85th best-selling single in Japan.

Yasuda sang this song live on three occasions; once at Fureaihall (2005.11.10), once at Genki DASH (2003.07.05) and once on the H!P related show Uta Dokki (2006.10.12).

 

真夜中のドア~Stay With Me (Mayonaka no Door -Stay With Me)

This song is sung by Melon Kinenbi. The original, released as her debut single in 1979, belongs to Miki Matsubara.

 

秋桜 (Cosmos)

Lyrics & Music: Masashi Sada | Arrangement: Hiroyasu Yano

This song is sung by Yuko Nakazawa. The original, released in 1977, belongs to Momoe Yamaguchi. It was her 19th single, which ranked at #3 on the Oricon charts and won her the 19th Annual Japan Record award. It was chosen as one of the top 100 Japanese songs (#38) by the Japanese agency for cultural affairs.

Cosmos is a flower (a direct translation of the Japanese title is Autumn Cherry Blossom).

 

22才の別れ (Nijuuni Sai no Wakare)

Lyrics & Music: Shouzou Ise | Arrangement: Taisee

This song is sung by Melon Kinenbi. The original was recorded in 1974 by Kaguyahime, but never released. After the disbandenment of Kaguyahime, it was released as Kaze’s debut single in 1975, selling a total of 708.000 copies and ranking at #7 on the Oricon charts.

Kei Yasuda’s nickname is Kemeko.
